• Compare it to the 1833 Book of Commandments, 7:3:
  • [1833 Book of Commandments Compared to 1966 Doctrine and Covenants]
  • [1833 Book of Commandments Compared to 1966 Doctrine and Covenants]
  • Even though this is dated November 1832 it was not in the 1833 Book of Commandments. It was in the 1835 D&C, section 4, page 89.

A Book of Commandments

Too low to display

After Oliver Cowdery’s unsuccessful attempt to translate from the Book of Mormon plates, Joseph Smith gave this revelation in April 1829. Beginning with words of reassurance and counsel, the revelation promises Cowdery he could assist in translating other records. The revelation is often used by Latter-day Saints to understand the process of revelation. Though Revelation Book 1 provides the earliest text, it is incomplete. This text is drawn from the 1833 Book of Commandments.

Well, perhaps this will allow everybody to easily see how Mormons change supposedly "revelations" from God after-the-fact. (We already know how several chapters in the lds "doctrine & covenants" were changed from the original 1833 published Book of Commandments)

1833 book of commandments compared to 1966 doctrine and covenants

Note the date this revelation was given and that it includes a summary of the two priesthoods. Also note that there is no support found for these statements in the two early “new Scriptures” of the Mormon church, the Book of Mormon and the 1833 Book of Commandments.
