The English-language publication, China Daily European Weekly, which launched in London at the end of December 2010, distributed an average of 86,752 copies a week in the three months to last September.
The China Daily European Weekly newspaper is backed by the Chinese government, and aims to “provide a window for China to understand and be understood by the world”.
Abdul'ahat Abdurixit, president of the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association, said the launch of an African edition by China Daily “will surely help better communication, both at the official and people-to-people level, between China and Africa. May the relations between the two sides grow and prosper. My congratulations to China Daily on this endeavor”.
