An award-winning Michigan restaurant is expanding into Woodhaven soon with plans to open on the former Kmart property at West and Allen roads.
Called Black Rock Bar and Grill, the high-end steakhouse is an award-winning restaurant with a unique culinary twist. Each certified angus beef steak is cooked to order at diners’ tables with a piece of volcanic rock, which is also known as Australian-style rock cooking. In addition to a variety of steak cuts, Black Rock will offer seafood, chicken, pasta dishes, piled-high sandwiches, salads, soups and more.
The restaurant will take a sizeable chunk of the former Kmart site as it’s planned to be 8,000 square feet. Construction is imminent and the restaurant is set to open in March 2016.
John Enos, Woodhaven’s director of building and planning, said he expects the entire development at the former Kmart site to be a destination point with Black Rock as an anchor tenant.
