Here’s the Babies’ latest clip, a visual which finds singer Cassie Ramone karaoke-ing the band’s jangle “Baby.” Timothy Fiore directs. Watch it below.
Forty years ago, four high-school friends from Forest Hills, Queens, came up with the revolutionary idea to reduce rock and roll to three chords and play them loud, sloppy, and blindingly fast, in black leather Perfecto jackets. They called their band the Ramones, after the fake name that Paul McCartney used to check in to hotels incognito. Joey Ramone would have been sixty-five this year, and to celebrate his birthday a handful of old friends are gathering in the East Village to play live Ramones karaoke. The band is pure punk-rock royalty, a supergroup made up of members of Blondie, the Dead Boys, the Minutemen, and the Bullys; one by one, Joey’s old friends from the Cramps, D Generation, the Independents, and the Dictators will get onstage to raise a glass to punk rock’s original antihero.
