2015 may officially be the Year of the Sheep, but with gigs in the pipeline and a solid opening effort in Flaneur behind them, these four lads from Liverpool will be hoping that this will be the Year of the Fiery Horse.
For some reason ‘Follow the Tide’ reminds me of Prefab Sprout, the interruptions of guitar though are most unMcAloon like. ‘Basic Attribution Error’ has the sort of angular approach of bands like Joan of Arc used to great effect, where the contrast between the melodies of the verses clashes with the rhythmic chorus. Here though the harmony vocals suggest something else entirely. On this evidence the year of the fiery horse can’t be too far away.
Add to the list Year Of The Fiery Horse - a quartet who dabble in chirpy melodies marrying sprightly synths, brisk guitar chops and melodies which gradually reveal themselves with repeat listens.
